DLW OCT: Round 3-2

The tower wasn't just the highest tower in the city. Idina was halfway up climbing it and was convinced it was the highest in the world. The wind blew against her hard, causing her grip to falter on the ledge. Scratch that, she thought. It's the highest in the fucking universe.

Then something struck her. A shadowy creature hovered near her face, it limbs outstretched. Although it had no eyes, Idina could feel it staring in to her. That was all the time the monster needed to strike her, causing her to fall down the tower.

Idina felt her heart jump into her throat. I'm going to die, was all she could think.

But before she hit the ground, a glowing disc appeared under her, breaking her fall. It was covered in symbols and turned slowly around on its axis. What the?

Idina cautiously went to the edge of the disc and peeked over the side. Below she could see LyDia standing tall, her hands spread out and positioned over her face. Next to her was AnDrew, looking a little shocked and in awe. But opposite from them was a young cat-girl, her posture ready to fight. Others from previous fights had formed a broken circle around the trio; she recognised Warxend, Sarah and Raenn. But the others she had not encountered yet.

"Wow, nice catch." AnDrew said, a little out of breath. "I didn't even see her coming."

Suddenly the disc changed to a green colour and Idina felt herself fall through it and hit the ground below.

"Ow." She cried out, rubbing her tail bone. "Thanks for catching me but you could have offered a softer spot to land."

She stood up and looked around. Both the cat-girl and AnDrew were holding the same envelope that she had received. Puzzled, she looked back up to the top of the tower and back to them.

"Why are you guys at the base of the tower?"

All looked at her confused for a moment. It was AnDrew who piped up.

"... Because it said to."

Idina felt her cheeks blush as she pulled out the letter and reread it again. Sure enough, it said to meet at the base of the tower. Of course, she thought, it was me who would start to climb the tower.

"Let's get this battle over with." The cat-girl said. Idina started to focus on her now. She remembered her as Yume, a young well-trained fighter. She wielded lightning, hard to dodge and deadly if you don't.

She charged at Idina, hands sparking with electricity. Idina pulled up a wall of fire as a distraction and went around the left, out flanking Yume. She grabbed Yume around the waist, causing her to bend over. She rolled over Yume's back, and using the force of her movement, pulled Yume with her, sending her flying towards LyDia.

LyDia movements were swift. She put up a blue disc in front of her which Yume hit with force, but as she was about to fall, the disc changed to a green disc and Yume was pulled into it, disappearing from sight. Idina didn't have time to think as a green disc appeared in front of her and Yume came flying towards her. She ducked and rolled under the disc and sent to balls of fire towards AnDrew.

This caught everyone off guard. LyDia paused for a second in shock before throwing herself infront of AnDrew, who wasn't fully aware of what was happening, and pushed him out of the way. She barely had enough time to pull up a blue disc, which wasn't enough to stop the force of the flames. She flew backwards against the walls, the fire scarring her arms, and the broken bricks fell on top of her.

"LyDia!" AnDrew cried running to her. He dropped his laptop to the ground and raced towards the pile of rubble, frantically throwing bricks off of her. The display of emotion caused Idina to stop fighting for a moment. Her skin changed back to normal and her hair returned to its sky blue and brown. She felt a shadow waft over her.

AnDrew's reaction - It had reminded her of Reina.

A force of a kick on the back of her legs broke her from her thoughts. She fell to her knees, scrapping her knuckles against the pavement.

"Snap out of it!" Yume said. "We have to stop fighting!"

"What do you mean?" AnDrew asked, holding LyDia from the ground, who was currently healing herself with another disc.

"Look!"

Idina started to focus outside of their battle ground. The other contestants were not focusing on their battle anymore and were slowly walking towards them, closing the circle in that they had formed. Dark creatures had surrounded the group. They came in many different forms, some which Idina had encountered before, such as the bird and the shadow. They looked annoyed and ready to attack.

Idina felt something grow inside. She couldn't recognise the emotion, but whatever it was, her skin and hair changed back to their dark blue and she was ready to kick some arse. LyDia was now healed and AnDrew had picked up his laptop but still remained protectively close to LyDia. Not that there was anything he could do, Idina added to her thoughts. Yume, LyDia and Idina all shared a look. LyDia nodded in their silent arrangement, and Yume mimicked.

"It is agreed then." Idina stated. "For now on we are not enemies. We fight together."
